Lowering of the Flag, Ashmore, Mckie, Morton, Wong, Wong

The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered today, Friday, September 9, 2011, in memory of Dr. Phillip Ashmore, Professor Doug Mckie, Dr. Kenneth Sherriffs Morton, Dr. Kim Fah Wong, and Dr. Ting-Kong Wong.

 ASHMORE, Professor Emeritus Dr. Philip S Ashmore, passed away on September 1, 2011, he was in the Faculty of Medicine, in the Department of Surgery.   For more information please contact the Faculty of Medicine.

 MCKIE, Professor Doug Mckie, former Associate Dean, Education passed away in France on August 28, 2011.  For more information, please contact the Faculty of Education.

 MORTON, Professor Emeritus of Orthopaedics, Dr. Kenneth Sherriffs Morton passed away on August 13, 2011.  Dr. Morton taught Orthopaedics in the UBC Faculty of Medicine for forty years, and for eleven years he was the head of the Division of Orthopaedics Surgery. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held at the UBC Golf Club on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Nature, 1620 Mount Seymour Road, North Vancouver, B.C. 

 WONG, Dr. Kim Fah  passed away on August 23, 2011.  Dr. Wong completed his PhD at UBC where he spent his career in Biomedical Research while teaching and mentoring many future scientists.  A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011, for family and friends.

 WONG, Dr. Lawrence Ting-Kwok, former Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics passed away on August 31, 2011.  A prayer service was held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, followed by a funeral mass on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Vancouver, B.C.
