The BC and UBC flags (at the North Plaza of the Old SUB) will be lowered on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in remembrance.
Professor Emeritus John Evan Sawyer passed away on April 7, 2017. John graduated UBC with the first B.Mus. cohort and returned in 1967 to teach. Dr. Sawyer was a leading figure in the development of Canada’s early music scene. A founder and member of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, and founder and director of the School’s Collegium Musicum early music ensemble. A celebration of John’s life will be held at The View, 2121 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, on May 7 at 4:00 pm.
