Diane Loomer, Tyler Lewis, Dale Reubart

The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered Wednesday, December 12, in memory of Dr. Diane Loomer C.M., Prof. Dale Reubart and Mr. Tyler Lewis.

Dr. Diane Loomer, CM, passed away at age 72 on Monday, December 10, 2012. Dr. Loomer spent her career as a choral conductor, teacher and musician. She was an alumna of the School of Music, and a former faculty member. She received numerous awards for her work in music including, an honorary doctorate from UBC, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and the Order of Canada.

Dr. Dale Reubart, Professor Emeritus, Music, passed away at age 86 on December 5, 2012. Dr. Reubart was a member of the UBC piano faculty from 1963-86. He retired to Kelowna some years ago. The UBC School of Music is working on a web page in his memory, and planning a concert in collaboration with the Canadian Music Centre.

Mr. Tyler Lewis passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 following a ski accident on Cypress Mountain. Tyler Lewis was a graduate student in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. He loved the outdoors and was an experienced skier. His PhD work was making great progress, and demonstrating the value of the Living Lab concept. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes a donation either to the Ride to Conquer Cancer (Tyler’s site), or to the Northshore Rescue.
