Professor Emeritus Harvey Mitchell passed away on October 28, 2016.
Dr. Mitchell came to the UBC Department of History in 1967, where he taught for 22 years, remaining active after his retirement in 1989. His research focused on European intellectual history and studies of Alexis de Tocqueville and Voltaire. He was a pioneer of UBC’s Arts One program.
