The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered on Wednesday, December 7, in memory of Professor Emeritus Jean A. Laponce, who passed away on November 28, 2016.
Dr. Laponce first came to the Department of Political Science in 1956, retiring in 1991. He was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Laws by UBC in 2003 for his wide-ranging academic and scholarly activities, bringing world-wide recognition to his Department and the University. Dr. Laponce leaves behind his wife, Librarian Emerita Iza Laponce.
