The BC and UBC flags (at the North Plaza of the Life Building (the Old SUB) will be lowered on Thursday, November 1, in remembrance.
Professor Emeritus John Kimberley Stager passed away on October 10, 2018. Dr. Stager joined UBC’s Department of Geography in 1957, retiring 36 years later, in 1993. Dr. Stager’s research focused on human interaction with the geography of the Arctic. Dr. Stager served as Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies (1969-75), Associate Dean of Arts (1975-90), and as Director of Ceremonies (1985-93). He received the President’s Service Award for Excellence in 1992.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Knox United Church, 5600 Balaclava, Vancouver, at 2:00 p.m.
