The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered today, Thursday, February 16, 2012 to mark the passing of three members of the UBC community:
Walker, William (Bill), passed away on February 2, 2012. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Bill immigrated to Canada in 1957. Bill worked for many years at the Physics Dept. at UBC, and was inducted into the 25 Year Club in 1989. He was Club President from 1991-1992. At Bill’s request, there is no service.
Welch, Richard (Rick) passed away February 7, 2012. Born in Buffalo, Rick moved to Vancouver where he worked at the Library for 41 years. He was inducted into the 35 Year Club in 2004. A gathering to celebrate Rick’s life will be on Sunday March 25th at 2 p.m. at Van Dusen Garden. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the B.C. Cancer Foundation Lung Cancer Research.
Radaideh, Ahmad passed away on January 28, 2011. Ahmad began his studies at UBC in the summer of 2008. During his time at UBC, he studied Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Ahmad was a hard-working student who excelled in his academics. Ahmad will be missed by fellow students, staff, and faculty in the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and in the broader UBC community.
