Flag Lowering: Virginia Greene

The BC Flag will be lowered today in memory of Virginia Greene, a member of the UBC Board of Governors, who passed away on December 2, 2010, following her 18-month fight with ovarian cancer.

Ms. Greene earned a degree in anthropology from UBC and went on to serve our province in roles that included President and CEO of the Business Council of BC, Deputy Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sports and the Arts. She was a Past Chair of the BC/Yukon Division of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Services remembering Virginia will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 690 Burrard Street, Vancouver, at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 10. In lieu of flowers, a gift to Ovarian Cancer Canada (www.ovariancanada.org) in Virginia’s name would be greatly appreciated.
