The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered today, Monday, January 9, 2012, in memory of Kevin Tu who passed away on January 4, 2012, at the age of 42.
Since 1999, Kevin Tu held various positions within IT at UBC, initially working with the Network Engineering group where he played an instrumental role in the development and success of the UNP (University Network Program).
Since 2008, Kevin joined the Enrolment Services Tech Support Team and recently provided IT support to Advancement Services, specifically the ECLR, DAE and Campus Community Planning units.
Kevin was well known across campus for not only his infectious smile, but as a straight shooter, as well as rock steady employee. All these attributes earned him the trust and respect of both his colleagues and those that depended on him for his knowledge and support.
Kevin will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends, and colleagues at UBC.
A memorial service will be held for Kevin Tu on Saturday, January 14, 2012, 10 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, #306 – East 11th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers the Tu family has requested that donations be made to the BC Cancer Agency in Kevin’s memory.
