Dr. Ted Aoki

The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered on Monday September 10th, in memory of Dr. Ted Aoki, Professor Emeritus of Education at UBC and a world-renowned scholar on multicultural education. Dr. Aoki received an honorary degree from UBC in 1991 (http://www.library.ubc.ca/archives/hdcites/hdcites9.html#aoki). He was also one of the 59 Japanese Canadian students awarded honorary degrees (D.hc) at a special ceremony on May 30, 2012.  Full information on the students and the special ceremony can be found  at http://japanese-canadian-student-tribute.ubc.ca/.

There will be a service at 1pm, Sunday, 9 September, at the Oceanview Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby BC. Reception to follow at the Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Aoki’s memory may be made to the Department of Secondary Education Fund at the University of Alberta.
