The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered on Thursday, September 27, in memory of Dr. Howard Oliver Jackson, who passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
Dr. Jackson received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of California (Berkeley) in 1967 and was a member of the UBC Department of Philosophy for 45 years. He was also the former head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of British Columbia (1991 – 1993).
A memorial service will be held at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club on Friday, November 2, 2012at 5:30pm. Inquiries can be directed to the Philosophy Department 604 822 3292.
