Professor Emeritus Norman Basco passed away on April 10, 2015. Norman came to UBC in 1964 as an assistant professor after 2 PhD degrees, one awarded in 1956 from Birmingham University and the other from Cambridge in 1966 under the tutelage of R. G. W. Norrish (FRS). While at UBC, he was a respected Physical Chemist who made important contributions in the areas of Flash Photolysis and Kinetic Spectroscopy aimed at characterizing short-lived, reactive molecules. He retired from UBC in 1991.
