The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered on Wednesday, July 22, in memory of Professor Emeritus Fred David Sack, who passed away on June 30, 2015.
Dr. Sack came to UBC in 2006, serving as Head of the Department of Botany, from 2006 to 2011, retiring in 2014. Professor Sack was a leader in understanding the cell biology and development of plant stomata. Fred’s many collaborators in Botany and Zoology will remember him fondly.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 27, from 2 to 5 pm at the Botanical Garden reception centre. The Fred Sack Memorial Fund has been established in his memory.
