The BC Flag (Main Mall and Agronomy Road) will be lowered on Thursday, August 18, in memory of Professor Emeritus Donald G. Brown, who passed away on July 18, 2016.
Dr. Brown was a UBC alumnus, graduating in 1947 with a B.A, Honours Philosophy. He returned to the Philosophy Department at UBC in 1955, retiring as Full Professor in 1985. He was one of the founders of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, and served on the Ethics Committee of the Vancouver General Hospital. Professor Brown was one of Canada’s most distinguished philosophers, remaining active until very recently.
