Quebec City Tragedy

The Canada and BC flags will be lowered on Tuesday, January 31.

The attack at a mosque in Quebec City on Sunday was a tragic and shocking event. The University of British Columbia deplores the violence and offers sincere condolences to the victims and their loved ones.

UBC celebrates diversity in all its forms, and is committed to providing an inclusive campus environment for everyone, regardless of religious belief, sexual orientation, gender identity or racial or ethnic background. These are fundamental Canadian – and human – values and therefore, we stand in solidarity with members of the Muslim community.

Flags will be lowered to half-mast at both campuses on Tuesday, January 31, in memory of the lives lost.
