Professor Emeritus Thomas G. Northcote passed away on April 24, 2017. Dr. Northcote was a world-renowned limnologist and fish biologist, retired from the Department of Forest & Conservation Sciences in 1992. His research contributed to the protection of globally unique ecosystems. He was recognized as a leader in the development of the Field Key to the Freshwater Fishes of BC, and he was instrumental in creating the first-ever course that dealt with fish-forestry interactions.
