Melva Dwyer

The BC and UBC flags (at the North Plaza of the Old SUB) will be lowered on Monday, January 8, in remembrance.

Librarian Emerita Melva J. Dwyer passed away on November 13, 2017. Melva started at the UBC Library in 1953, having previously earned a Masters in History from UBC. She was Head of UBC’s Fine Arts Library from 1964 until her retirement in 1984. During that time, she was largely responsible for building the Fine Arts Library collection to become one of the finest in North America. Please visit the library’s memorial page.
