The BC and UBC flags (at the North Plaza of the Life Building (the Old SUB) will be lowered on Thursday, August 30, 2018, in remembrance.
Professor Emeritus John Douglas (Doug) Waterfield passed away on August 20, 2018. Doug earned his BSc and MSc at UBC in Microbiology. Dr. Waterfield returned to UBC to join the Faculty of Oral Biology in 1983, until his retirement in 2012. He served as Director of the Faculty of Dentistry’s Animal Care Unit, and the Sterilizer Monitoring Unit. Dr. Waterfield maintained many friendships at UBC following his retirement, where he will be remembered for his research and his dedication to student welfare.
