National Day of Mourning

The Canada flag (at Flag Pole Plaza) and the BC, Musqueam and UBC flags (at the North Plaza of the Life Building) on the UBC Vancouver Campus and the Canada, BC, Okanagan Nation Alliance and UBC flags at UBC Okanagan are lowered on Thursday, April 28, 2022, in recognition of the National Day of Mourning, to remember lives lost in the workplace and resolve to prevent future tragedies.

We stand together as a university community to remember Harmandeep Kaur, a member of the UBC Okanagan Campus Security team, whose tragic death at the end of February was felt across UBC as a whole.

Please read a message written to the community in early March from Dr. Lesley Cormack, UBC Okanagan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal and seek out the supports and services offered to students, faculty and staff.
