Professor Emeritus James Russell passed away on July 3, 2025. Dr. Russell served in the Department of Classical, Near Eastern and Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts.
Thomas Roy Bentley

Professor Emeritus Thomas Roy Bentley passed away on April 10, 2025. Dr. Bentley served in the Department of Language Education, Faculty of Education.
Julia Levy
The BC, Musqueam and UBC flags (temporarily relocated to the East Mall Entrance and Plaza at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre) will be lowered on Sunday, July 27, 2025 in remembrance. Professor Emerita and Honorary Degree Holder Julia Levy, O.C., D.Sc., passed away on December 5, 2024. Dr. Levy served in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science.
Peter Boothroyd

Professor Emeritus Peter Boothroyd passed away on June 23, 2025. Professor Boothroyd served in the School of Community and Regional Planning.
Robert (Bob) Ellis

Professor Emeritus Robert (Bob) Ellis passed away on June 22, 2025. Dr. Ellis served in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences, Faculty of Science.
Arun Verma
